Effective decision-making in software organizations relies on good data: you can’t improve what you don’t measure. Current ways of measuring software org productivity are flawed and may encourage counterproductive behavior. We propose a new approach to measuring productivity, developed through years of Stanford research.

In 2005, I founded YOPESO, a software services company that I scaled to hundreds of engineers spanning the US, Europe, and Asia.
In 2016, part of YOPESO was acquired by Crunchyroll, a leading video streaming company in San Francisco. This transition led to my role as CTO, where I spearheaded the engineering team through a phase of rapid subscriber and team growth while transitioning from data center monolith to a microservice-based cloud architecture.
Crunchyroll was acquired by AT&T/WarnerMedia and later by Sony in a $1.2B deal.
Now, I’ve returned to my passion: delving deep into software engineering productivity research
